Boston, July 29, 2009 For immediate release ATLANTIC-ACM, a leading telecommunications industry research and benchmarking firm, today released U.S. Telecom Wired and Wireless Sizing and Share: 2009-2014 -- the 16th edition of the industry's chief market sizing and forecasting study. The study reveals that retail wireless revenues have caught up to retail wireline revenues this year, and that by 2014, the wireless segment will represent more than half of all industry revenues. "The wireless space continues to be the growth story in the telecom industry as it is expected to pick up an additional $22B in revenue from 2008 to 2014," said ATLANTIC-ACM CEO Dr. Judy Reed Smith. "The penetration of data services will continue to grow, driving postpaid data revenue at a compound annual growth rate of 11 percent from last year through 2014. As a whole, growth in the prepaid segment is expected outpace the postpaid wireless space thanks to the addition of data plans at attractive prices and as unemployment increases the prepaid target market of lower-income and bargain-driven customers."
