| Point-of-sale
activation (PoS) solutions are gaining popularity, particularly
for the sale of prepaid communications services (long distance,
wireless, Internet, local dial tone, etc.). Many prepaid providers
are leveraging the demand for POSA solutions to gain marketshare
by installing POS devices in retail locations.
Research from ATLANTIC-ACM, a leading communications industry research
firm, reveals that retailers are keenly interested in PoS to minimize
theft – and by extension, exposure – and to improve
sales tracking.
However, ATLANTIC-ACM’s discussions with downstream members
of the POSA value chain reveal that finding the right PoS solution
for an individual company’s particular needs can be overwhelming.
This confusion extends from the type of system itself to implementation,
which requires partnerships. The complexity of the decision process
is compounded by the sheer number of solution providers in the market,
which includes value added resellers (VARs).
Nonetheless, significant opportunity exists in this area as PoS
is being largely embraced by retail channels and many retailers
have not yet adopted systems.
To address the need for actionable information on selecting point-of-sale
solutions, ATLANTIC-ACM has prepared a PoS solutions buyer’s
guide, which addresses key considerations for selecting solutions
as well as a side-by-side comparison of POSA system features from
vendors in the marketplace. |
