The 2020 analysis of the ~$20B U.S. Wholesale voice/data market covers both metro and long-haul wholesale services and has been the market benchmark since it was introduced after the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Price and network performance continue to be the most important buying priorities for wholesale customers, aligning with pricing pressure experienced throughout the Industry, though customer-facing operations and network security still play a vital role in purchase decisions. Among products, rising bandwidth demand continues to push wholesale buyers to spend more on high-capacity Wavelength, Ethernet, and IP Transit services. Wholesale customers indicated that they expect future spend to increase with agile fiber, cable, and niche VoIP providers.

For 2020 ATLANTIC-ACM asked targeted questions to assess the impact of COVID-19 on respondent businesses, the most significant of which were slowing end-user demand and service delivery delays.
